Sheriffs Ordway and Wells Graduate
from National Sheriffs Institute

Sheriff Kevin Wells of St. Lawrence County and Sheriff Joel Ordway of Steuben County have graduated from the 98^th Session of the National Sheriffs’ Institute. The NSI is the only national executive development program designed for first term Sheriffs.  The highly acclaimed school is co - sponsored by the National Institute of Corrections and the National Sheriffs’ Association.

Sheriffs Wells and Ordway joined 28 other sheriffs from across the country for training on contemporary challenges facing America’s sheriffs today. In light of those challenges, the sheriffs explored the role of the local sheriff in providing effective leadership for the public good in such areas as public safety, criminal justice system policy, community relations, and organization effectiveness and efficiency.

“Both Sheriff Wells and Sheriff Ordway are true leaders with a genuine vision for the future of the Office of Sheriff,” said Fred Wilson, National Sheriffs’ Association Director of Operations.  “These two outstanding Sheriffs from New York State now join over 2,400 graduates of the National Sheriffs’ institute.”
