Brief Description of Services

Civil Division
Serve papers for income executions, property executions, etc., from various attorneys. Collect bad debts from defendants, foreclosures on both real and personal property. This office turns a large amount of money into the County in the form of revenue from civil fees. This office is mandated by Law.

Correctional Division
Maintain order inside the Correctional Facility; insure jail security at all times; booking of inmates; dispenses medication to inmates; perform a variety of functions too numerous to list.

Criminal Division
Enforce all laws within St. Lawrence County; investigate accidents; serve papers for various courts, District Attorney, Probation Department, etc.; investigate major crimes, maintain order at public gatherings;  perform a multitude of functions far too numerous to list, including inmate transports to courts, prisons, doctors, dentists, etc.

Juvenile Division
Investigate complaints where the suspect is under 16 years of age. Work directly with Family Court, Probation Department, parents, school officials, Social Services along with others in the investigation of these incidents. Serve as our public relations representative for the office by giving presentations, producing NYS Safe Child Cards and conducting tours of the building. Also are involved in criminal case loads when necessary and assist with inmate transports.
